About the subject:

This subject provides an introduction to the major art movements that established a foundation for Modernism in art practice. Students explore Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Fauvism, Dada, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and the subsequent variety of strategies that culminated in Conceptual Art in the 1970s.

Single unit enrolment is welcome. Study units can be completed in any order. There are no study prerequisites. Classes are one session per week.  Completion of  the two study units Art History 2oth Century and Art History Postmodernism completes the subject requirement for the Diploma of Visual Art and Diploma of Photography.
