The Benefits of Studying Graphic Design at Latrobe College – Opening Doors for Students

Since establishing in 1995, the independent Latrobe College of Art & Design has been governed by one simple philosophy: to effectively supply students with comprehensive industry knowledge and valuable skill sets in order to develop into excellent practising artists and graphic designers. Numerous graduates from Latrobe College have forged highly successful careers in art and graphic design with notable achievements – winning significant festival awards and prizes, running profitable galleries, showcasing their own work to high critical acclaim, and working in film. More recently, our student Iona Dierich has been employed by Brunswick’s Le Sphinx Creative Agency and Design Company.

Located in Collingwood – the heart of Melbourne’s art and gallery district – Latrobe College serves to open doors for its students. Smaller class sizes, focused teaching programs, and industry exposure to both pioneering artists and innovative artwork mean our graphic design students are individually nurtured. Our specialist staff of trained teachers and recognised art and design practitioners aim to help students efficiently grow and evolve their creative potential as artists while respecting their own sense of individuality.

Latrobe College has numerous flexible study options available for students including full-time and part-time loads, as well as single subjects – daytime and evening classes are also available for added convenience. Graphic design courses range from introductory classes into art to advanced programs designed to consolidate existing knowledge: they cover everything from theory, history, technique, and methodology; through to professional practice, developing practical skills and creating industry contacts.

The college also delivers additional units during local and international trips to exhibitions and galleries – from New York to Italy’s influential Venice Biennale. All students have the opportunity to showcase their pieces in the College’s own dedicated Art Space.
