About the subject:
This subject explores the print-based disciplines of the design industry. Students gain skills in publication design through utilising grid layouts and typesetting along with design principles to create dynamic compositions. Contemporary case studies are drawn on for inspiration and to inform unique project outcomes ranging from magazine layout to collateral design.
The fundamental aspects of packaging design are explored through creative project work and backed up with tutorials centred on contemporary printing methods. Students gain knowledge in how to translate creative concepts into professional 3D packaging outcomes.
Single unit informal enrolment is welcome if the student chooses. Study units can be completed in any order. Computer experience is the recommended entry prerequisite. Class sessions are once per week. A materials list will be given to students before they start. Completion of the two study units for this subject – Publishing & Packaging W and Publishing & Packaging S will complete the Publishing & Packaging subject requirement of the Diploma of Graphic Design.
