About the subject:
In this subject, students develop an individual voice and style. Students learn how to apply their technical skills to formulating their unique style evaluating their own work and practice. The students will examine a range of inspiring techniques from bizarre methods of applying liquid and tar to photographs and alter the nature of the surface of the image. There is no limit to the experimentation and personal development for the student to examine and strengthen their own methods of inquiry and creativity, all in pursuit of becoming an independent innovative image-maker. Guided through the development of a graduating exhibition of personal work based around a single concept students learn how to articulate best practices in photography and how to set up an exhibition of their work.
Single unit informal enrolment is welcome. Study units can be completed in any order. Some computer experience is the recommended entry prerequisite. Class sessions are once per week. A digital SLR camera is recommended but not compulsory. Completion of the two study units for this subject – Photography Studio W and Photography Studio S will complete the Photography Studio subject requirement of the Diploma of Photography.
